Slight Risk Today, 4-29-09 for Western Plains

lkjfasdlksd.gifThere is a slight risk today for the western plains with now a 10% chance for tornadoes. Severe storms will be possible through out the day, and the chance for super cells is good.

The SPC said this: MAX SFC TEMPERATURES SHOULD OCCUR JUST ABOUT THE TIME THAT LEADING EDGE OF PREVIOUSLY-MENTIONED SRN STREAM SPEED MAX OVERSPREADS THE REGION. WITH 500 MB WSWLY FLOW INCREASING TO AOA 40 KTS...SETUP SHOULD PROVE FAVORABLE FOR DEVELOPMENT OF DISCRETE SUPERCELLS. THESE COULD PRODUCE A FEW TORNADOES...IN ADDITION TO VERY LARGE HAIL AND LOCALLY DMGG WINDS THROUGH EARLY TONIGHT.

Slight Risk for Severe Weather Tonight 4-28-09

There is a slight risk for severe weather tonight for west Texas and East New Mexico. The front has moved very slowly over the west Texas area. TRC will be streaming live around 7pm tonight.

bobdole333.gif The SPC said this: IT SEEMS LIKELY THAT COMBINATION OF SFC HEATING AND PERSISTENT/INCREASINGLY MOIST SELY LOW LVL UPSLOPE FLOW BENEATH DEEP EML WILL SUPPORT SCTD STORM DEVELOPMENT BY LATE AFTN FROM THE TRANS PECOS REGION OF TX NNW INTO E CNTRL NM ALONG WESTERN EDGE OF LOW LEVEL CLOUD FIELD. 35-40 KT WSWLY MID LVL FLOW AND ABSENCE OF STRONG LOW LVL CONVERGENCE MECHANISMS SUGGEST THAT PREDOMINANT STORM MODE WILL BE DISCRETE SUPERCELLS. THESE COULD PRODUCE LARGE HAIL AND TORNADOES...ESPECIALLY IN SW TX. OTHER STORMS...POSSIBLY WITH HAIL...COULD FORM ALONG W/E FRONTAL SEGMENT OVER S CNTRL TX.

Slight Risk for Severe Weather today 4-27-09

anana.gifThere is a slight risk for severe weather today for most of Texas and Oklahoma. A cold front is slowly moving in a north west direction in the Texas area and in the Mississippi valley in a south east direction. As a result, storms will produce in front of this front. In the west Texas area this will be in the late afternoon and early evening hours. If this system produces storms in the Lubbock area, expect to see TRC with live video around 7.

The SPC said this:  SW TX PANHANDLE/W CNTRL TX/NE NM LATE IN PERIOD... SLY LLJ SHOULD STRENGTHEN OVER W TX LATE TONIGHT/EARLY TUE ATOP SHALLOW POST-FRONTAL COOL DOME AS A SRN STREAM IMPULSE NOW OFF THE CA CST APPROACHES REGION. GIVEN RICH MOISTURE NOW PRESENT AHEAD OF FRONT...COMBINATION OF INCREASING WAA...ELEVATED MOISTURE INFLUX /MUCAPE TO 1000 J PER KG/...AND 30-40 KT CLOUD LAYER SHEAR MAY SUPPORT A THREAT FOR HAIL AFTER 06Z.
